The uses of the marriages in the Renaissance have their origins in the Middle Ages. Fashion and costumes were developed when they started businesses and foreign communications with the whole of Europe.
Marriages Renaissance were often required to the bride's house. Couples who belonged to the nobility celebrated weddings in medieval castles in the late Middle Ages, the Catholic Church dominated the culture and, as a consequence, Renaissance marriage was to be celebrated in a chapel or church. The ceremonies and celebrations depended largely on the social class of the spouses. The properties and economic power were often the reasons why they were established marriages between families. Contracts and agreements were signed and described in detail the rights and duties of both spouses. Often with the wedding was ennobled with the possession of the lands.
The laws governing marriage
The marriage laws underwent an evolution during the Renaissance earlier era. The council decreed in Westminster 1076 that no man could give his daughter in marriage without the blessing of a priest. Later councils decreed that the marriage would not have had to be secret, but public. But it was not until the 16th century that the Council of Trent decreed that he should be a priest to celebrate the ceremony. The separation of the couples was tolerated but there was no legal divorce although marriages between couples of the same blood could be canceled.
